The Club at River Oaks in Sherman, CT
The Club at River Oaks is a family friendly facility, designed by Robert McNeil and opened in the summer of 2003.
This is one majestic layout and one of the best playing experiences in New England. The golf course rests comfortably along the banks of the Housatonic River, and the layout embraces the natural topography and vistas inherent on the site. In addition to a full 18 holes of scenic and challenging golf, The Club at River Oaks also offers a driving range and putting/chipping greens, so juniors have the opportunity to work on all aspects of the game. Camp Highlights:
- Action-packed camps, which include hands-on instruction led by certified PGA of America Golf Professionals and/or LPGA Teaching Professions.
- Signature PGA camp curriculum focuses on developing golf skills (full swing, short game, rules and etiquette) while keeping the experience fun and engaging (games and activities).
- A fun, safe and educational environment designed with your child's well being in mind.
- Low student to instructor ratio (approximately 6:1)
Half Day Camps are designed to inspire new golfers at the beginning of their journey and further the development of those playing at a beginner to intermediate level. Camps will cover golf fundamentals including posture, grip, putting, chipping, pitching, full swing and simple rules and etiquette. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their experience and age to create a favorable and fun learning environment. Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.
Full Day Camps provide an opportunity for intermediate to advanced junior golfers to continue to improve their technical skills as well as develop an understanding of course management, shot selection, rules and etiquette. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their ability level and age to create a favorable learning environment for all. Skill Level: Intermediate to Advanced.

Lunch is NOT provided for Full Day Camps.

Ian Wivestad, PGA Associate - Camp Director
The Club at River Oaks' Head Golf Professional, Ian Wivestad, possesses extensive experience teaching golfers of all ages and skill levels. An award-winning Division II golfer, Ian is dedicated to helping members enhance their abilities and gain greater enjoyment from the game of golf. He has been a member of the 2022 NCAA Division II PING All-Region Team, the 2022 CACC All-Conference Team and won the All-American Scholar award in 2023.
