Lion Golf Academy at Mission Bay Golf Course in San Diego, CA
Mission Bay Golf Course and Practice Center is an 18-hole executive course designed by Ted Robinson, former president of the American Society of Golf Course Architects.
Measuring 2,719 yards, it sits on 46 acres in the heart of the City. Located specifically in the community of Pacific Beach, Mission Bay Golf Course is a par 58 executive course featuring four par-four holes and 14 par-three holes. It is also the only golf course in San Diego with night lighting!

Camp Highlights:
- Action-packed camps include hands-on instruction led by certified PGA Professionals.
- Signature PGA camp curriculum focuses on developing golf skills (full swing, short game, rules and etiquette) while keeping the experience fun and engaging (games and activities).
- A fun, safe and educational environment designed with your child's well being in mind.
- Low student to instructor ratio (approximately 6:1)
Half Day Camps are designed to inspire new golfers at the beginning of their journey and further the development of those playing at a beginner to intermediate level. Camps will cover golf fundamentals including posture, grip, putting, chipping, pitching, full swing and simple rules and etiquette. Participants are segmented into smaller groups based on their experience and age to create a favorable and fun learning environment. Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate.

Tony Brooks, PGA - Camp Director
Tony Brooks is the owner of the 5 Lion Golf Academy facilities located around Southern California. He is one of only 350 PGA Master Professionals in the country. His specialty for his Masters program was teaching and instruction. He is the recipient of the 2018, 2021, 2022, and 2023 Golf Range Association of America Top 100 Growth of the Game Award. Tony began playing golf at the tender age of 5 in his native homeland of South Africa.. He began his teaching career at the elite Riveria Country Club in Pacific Palisades. Joseph Plaut, Lead Assistant
Joseph Plaut is our Lead Instructor at Mission Bay Golf Course and runs the program year round. He is a PGA Apprentice and been with the Lion Golf Academy leading students to better paths in life through golf since 2023. With an extensive educational background in youth development, coach Joe brings a wealth of experience to our juniors in both our seasonal camps, as well as our year round development program.
Mike Swanson, Lead Assistant
Mike is a former tour professional and former PGA tour instructor. Mike has been instructing golfers since 1991 to students of all levels and abilities. Mike specializes in new player development, and emphasizes the importance of correct practice and developing a solid foundation in the life and skillset of his students. He is a great coach to have in your corner as he brings years of experience to the table.
